Whether someone is an avid reader or not, chances are they have one (or a few) books that still occupy space in their minds. Thoughts about these books can surface when reading another book that has something similar in it or just randomly when going about everyday life. We can remember specific scenes or how a book made us feel, but that does not matter. What matters is this book left a deep impression that could live with you for years to come.
It is important to note at this point that these books can change. As we grow and learn new things about ourselves, our tastes and preferences grow and change. If you brought this topic to me ten years ago I would have said Twilight and Harry Potter were the books I would have loved to reread. And while I still love those books and they have impacted my life greatly, there are other books that now occupy that space in my mind that I mentioned before.
These books that have taken root in my mind, I think about often. I recommend them to friends and family and strangers every chance I get. I even reread them (at least once a year). However, it is never the same. While I still love the scenes and emotions that I get to reminisce with, it is not the same as experiencing it for the very first time. For me, there are three books (series really) that I would love to just forget so that I could read them as if I have never done so before. These are the books I want to share with you!
Hannaford Prep by J. Bree
There is so much that I would love to say about this series but I am going to try and keep it concise. The first thing all should know before they venture to try this series is it is a “why choose.” Meaning, the female main character ends up with three partners and does not have to choose between them. Besides that this series has a solid plot (with a surprise I never saw coming) and a powerful female main character whose energy I try to channel on occasion. While I reread this book at least once a year, I will never capture the rampant need to continue to read the series like I had when I first did.
From Blood and Ash by Jennifer Armentrout
As I write this, I see a pattern forming. I love books with women who are powerful and not afraid to be so. From Blood and Ash is a fantasy-based romance that includes great action. Action that the female main character is a part of. Poppy, the female main character, is forced to take her destiny into her own hands and (without spoiling it) is completely brilliant. This is another four book series that I could not read fast enough. The amount of sleep that I lost to finish the series the first time I read it is astronomical.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
I believe I will always be a hype person for Sarah J Maas. She writes fantasy with romance and world builds like no one else that I have read before. A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first series I read from her and the amount of times I physically reacted out loud to what I read was unbelievable. While I still enjoy reading her works, I know now what is going to happen and the experience won’t ever be the same. Just trust me and read this series (or any of her others) you won’t be disappointed.
